Ashtanga is a rigorous and disciplined form of yoga with a predetermined sequence of postures. Through controlled breathing (pranayama) , gaze shifting (dristi), and poses (asanas) we learn to be still and bring our attention inward, eventually leading to meditation. As Patanjali’s classification of classical yoga, ashtanga focuses on the eight limbs of yoga forming a sequence from the outer to the inner.

Classes focus on the introduction to the Primary Series

Meet the Instructors

Joy Gagliardi

“My extensive background in Ashtanga yoga started in 1998 with my first teacher Beryl Bender Birch. With a strong fitness background, I never imagined the peace and balance I would find in yoga. I love sharing the experiences of yoga with others. My classes have elements of Ashtanga combined with creative sequencing, playfulness, and inspiration. I am known for my hands on assists which takes your yoga practice to a deeper level. Beginners to advanced practitioners are always welcome to all of my classes!”

Gail Frassetta

“I began my yoga journey in 2010, taking my first yoga class to balance out running and soccer. I practiced many styles but was particularly drawn to the challenge of Ashtanga and wanted to learn more about this practice. In 2017 I travelled to India to pursue in-depth study of Hatha, Ashtanga, meditation, pranayama and yogic philosophy earning my 200 Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification in Thai Yoga Stretch. In 2019 I completed my 300 RYT with Andrew Abaria as I continue to follow different paths and explore the many benefits of yoga, leading to my current interest in functional mobility. Join my experiences of yoga on the mat as you explore breath and movement. I invite you to explore how your body moves as you walk the line between effort and ease through my thoughtful flows!”

“Reiki became a part of my journey in 2012 when I received my first treatment. I fell in love with the peace and refreshment I felt in my whole being! In 2022, I received my Reiki Master certification in the beautiful and traditional Japanese healing art. As a certified yoga teacher with a focus in trauma sensitive, restorative and feminine energy healing, I compliment individual gentle yoga sessions with Reiki to unblock trapped negative energy in the chakra’s of the body, mind and soul. Each session concludes with soft mediation, a pause for reflective journaling, and a blessing of gratitude. All of my sessions are customized to the clients needs and requests. I look forward to seeing you on the mat and on the table!”

” I combine enthusiasm with education and enjoy helping others find joy in movement and mindfulness through the practices of yoga, aromatherapy and health coaching. I currently reside in Maui, HI but I continue to teach yoga in person and virtual in my hometown of Central Pennsylvania when I visit. Apart from a yoga teacher, I have qualifications in other areas of the practice such as Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC), National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists (NAHA) Level 3 Certified Clinical Aromatherapist, as well as a Level 2 Certified Pranayama Teacher. In 2003 I connected with Nancy Gilgoff and immediately my own practice and teaching soared to new heights! Experiences and workshops with Manju Jois and Beryl Bender Birch have also helped broaden my practice, as well as deepen my pranayama practice with Robert Moses of Namarupa via his online sessions. I have extensive background in anatomy, kinesiology, nutrition, yoga practices, herbal home remedies, and fitness training since 1990. In 2009 I started traveling and teaching workshops worldwide, spreading the joy of lifestyle as means of preventative medicine. I have dedicated my life to practicing and teaching yoga!”
